I use Citibank for just about all my financial needs. My mortgage (on an apartment back in New York) is with Citi. My home equity line (also on the NY apartment) is with Citi. My checking an savings accounts are with Citi. My brokerage account used to be with Citi, but I moved to Schwab last year for the lower trading fees. And, of course, my student loans are with Citi. Originally, only my law school loans (all $70,000 or so of them) were with Citi since my undergraduate loans (some $25,000 of those) were “direct” loans, but a few years ago I consolidated the direct loans over to Citi and locked in an historically low rate of 3.375% for 30 years (give me a couple of high inflation years and that fixed monthly payment will look really nice).
I wish I hadn’t.
I have never had a problem with any part of Citibank outside of their student loan department. With student loans, however, it’s been one screw-up after another. Two of my loans were not eligible for consolidation, and so their interest rates stayed variable. As rates started climbing on those loans, I started sending in the occasional extra principal payment. Without fail, Citi would screw up the extra payment. They’d apply it to the next scheduled payment of interest instead of extra principal. They’d apply it to a loan other than the one I specified. If there was a way to screw up payment instructions, they found it. It got to the point where I was sending the payments in together with an instruction letter whose key words (“additional principal” “loan #25″, and so forth) were typed in 20 point font and all caps. Didn’t help. Those idiots still screwed it up.
Yesterday, I received my year-end bonus and decided it was time to pay off the rest of the non-consolidation loans (I had about $4,000 remaining due on a loan with 7.25% interest). I call. The customer service rep gives me the payoff amount on the loan. I tell her I’d like to pay it off. She asks for my checking account routing and account numbers. I ask what my monthly payment will be now that this loan is repaid. She gives me a number that makes sense (my current monthly payment less the part that goes to this loan). I thank her. She thanks me back, and tell me that the payment will post by midnight that night. Easy. The whole thing took 5 minutes and I hung up with my faith in Citibank renewed.
Alas, it was not meant to be. I logged in to my student loan account this afternoon to see that, wait, you’ll never guess: Citibank misapplied the payment. Despite there being absolutely no confusion on the phone, and despite the specific discussion of a full pay-off of one particular loan, my payment was applied across all of my loans on a pro rata basis, meaning about $700 went to the loan with the 7.25% interest rate, and the other $3,300 or so went to the consolidation loans with the 3.375% interest rate. Someone at Citi probably thought that MUST have been what I wanted. Makes sense, after all. Why would I want to pay off the higher rate loan first, when there’s a perfectly good loan going unpaid with its interest below the rate of inflation?
Moral of the story? Don’t get your student loans through Citibank. Their incompetence is just appalling.
And just think, all the money they’re paying for outsourcing their customer service to Elbonia is going to the Mets for naming rights for the new stadium. So you’re good like that.
Sallie Mae has great customer service — and for what I’m paying in interest, they had just better.

Unfortunately, this is good old fashioned American customer service; they haven’t outsourced the call center for student loans. Maybe they should. One of the drawbacks to having historically low unemployment rates for so long is that companies end up having to scrape the bottom of the employment barrel to find people to man their phones.
I heard that the MTA is negotiating with Citi for naming right fees for the new stadium’s subway station on the 7 line.

Criminy, I could fill a BOOK with how much I hate Citibank. I got my first credit card through them when I was 19 and just a year ago cancelled it forever because of their incompetency. Twice….TWICE they just sent me a Mastercard out of the blue and told me I was being switched to a new account. It was nearly impossible for me to get someone to understand that I didn’t want this. Even a manager kept telling me it was better….better for WHO??? Well, them. Getting my old account back was a logistical nightmare. I. HATE. THEM
yikes……glad i am not the only one

There *is* one way that keeping the card would have been better for you. A big factor in determining your “credit score” is the age of your longest-standing credit account. The longer the oldest account has been open (provided it’s in good standing), the better your score. I found that out the hard way when I canceled the last of my college-era cards last year.

Oops, I hoping I haven’t made a mistake opening a new credit card account with Citi. My wife and I have been using a Discover card with the Cashback bonus award for years. We put everything we can on it every month and then pay it off on time…every time. Once a year we cash out the bonus for couple hundred bucks. Discover hates us but won’t cancel our account because of the nice fees they earn off of the merchants. Anyway, there’s many times we come across a store that doesn’t accept Discover. Sometimes, it for something expensive, like appliances where we would earn a decent amount of cash back. So I got the bright idea of opening a Citi Mastercard account that has a similar cashback program (no fees, 2% cash on gas, groceries, utilities, etc…1% cash on everything else.) This would be our backup card when Discover is not accepted.
Seemed like a good idea at the time. I hope this doesn’t come back to bite me in the a$$.

I have the same card, although I got it when the rewards were a bit richer (5% on gas, groceries and drug stores, 1% elsewhere). I’m still getting the higher reward, but it’s just a matter of time until they cut it back on my account as well.
Updating on the student loan situation – it took only 2 extra phone calls and an extra forty five minutes of having to deal with idiots on the phone, but Citi managed to fix their error today and all is well.

Citibank Forges Signature:
Initially it might look just another complaint, but hold your breath. Please Read on…
I took a personal loan from a Citibank during my stay in Chennai (India) in 2002. The bank granted me a loan after I have duly signed all required documents. I agreed for an ECS payment to that bank for the EMIs from my HSBC Saving a/c. The bank also took 3 surety cheques of my HSBC Saving a/c from me.
I pre-closed the loan in 2004. The bank has sent me a closure letter confirming the loan is closed. And yes…the bank has also sent me a cover letter saying “Your unused post-dated cheques are enclosed”.
You must say, the bank has returned my HSBC Surety cheques (which actually they should have been). But to your surprise, they have sent me cheques of another person. But then, what is the big deal?
The big deal is, the bank has taken up 3 cheques of another person altogether, forged my signatures on those cheques and sent me. What if they have deposited those cheques into the related bank with my name? I would have been arrested first and then comes the rest…. I would have been the sole sufferer for no fault of mine. The Central Crime Branch could also find very easily whose cheques have the bank taken and sent to me as those cheques which I have received belonged to some other person holding an account with SBI (Chennai, India).
I have been following up with the bank since the last 19 months. But to no avail. None of my letters was answered. Except that on 18th Oct 2005, they have sent me a letter stating that my HSBC cheques are not traceable and the other SBI cheques in question are being investigated. More than 1 year has passed but no reply from the bank. Phone calls, letters, emails….nothing helped. Yes of course, for emails you are sure to get automated replies saying “we shall get back to you shortly”. Who knows who defines the word “shortly”.
I tried filing a complaint with the police station that comes under the required jurisdiction but probably due to technical reasons the complaint could not be accepted. I did not loose hope.
I went to the Central Crime Branch. I met the Commissioner of Police. The complaint is now lying with the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for further investigation. Also, once the complaint has been accepted by the CCB, senior officials of the bank started even visiting me personally to settle the matter. I got calls from various Citibank officials whose name and numbers are all noted and can be provided. I have received enourmous calls from the bank’s top officials, once I informed them about getting the news published in the newspaper.
I am being asked if I have had any monetary loss. The question is not of monetary loss but my signatures forged that too in somebody else’s cheque (how can you say it is not intentional) and enough evidence is there. In fact, in my presence at Central Crime Branch, Mr. Anjan Manikonda, Citibank VP (South India) was called up by ACP and few officials from Citibank did visit to meet the ACP.
Ms. Anjana Makkar, Mr. Munish Sharda and Mr. Harshal Shah (senior officials) of Citibank India have been in touch with me ever since I have lodged the complaint with CCB (Not before that of course). Ms. Anjana Makkar has also personally visited ICRPC ( http://www.icrpc.org) where I have had a talk with her over the phone at ICRPC contact number. I must say, Mr. Arun Saxena, President, ICRPC is doing excellent jobs helping the common man like me.
I am determined to take them for a ride for this kind of activities. Apart from Criminal case, a case will be filed by next week at consumers’ redressal forum for which ICRPC has already extended its help.
Citibank not only lags in its service, but in order to cover up, it commits crimes as well. In India, Signature forgery in bank instrument is a criminal offence.

I’m a reporter for the New York Daily News and I’m trying to find new Yorkers who hate their bank and either wanted to switch but it was to much trouble, or went ahead and found a new bank. I have to wrap up the story in the next few days, but if you fit the bill or know someone who does, I’d like to talk.

I had a recent debacle with Washington Mutual that was just inexcusable! total incompetence and caused me much anguish, for which i got a simple “sorry for the inconvenience” apology. I won’t go into details because it would take volumes, but it’s been a month and I’m still feeling the repercussions.

But I’m three months waiting to an explanation and they haven’t contact me to explain de failure. I was a seven year citibank customer but i decided to change.

I work for Citicards Customer Service. First off I would like to say dont hate me. I hate the place as well, but most of it is because of the customers. Ive maintaned that we should send IQ test out with the cards. But All of you are correct as well. The Customer Service is terrible.
I do my best to help people out. Ill remove about any fees and finance charges because Im a consumer as well. I am low income. 23k a year before taxes. Im going to ITT tech. Im not stupid as I have been called over the phone. Ive been called much much worse on the phone. Rich a*holes that think the 36k credit line makes the god when the truth is your account, in the big picture, doesnt mean squat. The cardholder agreement is crazy and unfair. BUT if you do READ it (Most people dont but it is a CONTRACT and you should) most of the problems you have are not problems, just a crappy agreement. For example the paying off of the student loan where the payment was spread through-out the loan with the lowest rate being paid off first.
DUH! #1 Its in the agreement. “Your payments will be allocated to the lowest interest rate first. This means your savings will be reduced by making transactions that are subject to higher rates” Now that is verbatim. We have to say that, not for you, but for the rep to keep his/her job. The calls are ALWAYS recorded and SOMETIMES monitored live.
#2 You got to think about credit as if everyone is trying to screw you and get paid. You have to think what is going to make that company the most money. And paying off low rates first will let higher ones accumulate interest earning the bank more money. Student Loans, Credit Cards, ect. This is the payment hiearchy and it holds true with almost every bank.
That is just an example. But what I am getting at is READ THE AGREEMENT. If you have questions call and ask. The agreement is in legal terms so it is confusing. Most of the reps that work also agree that the practices of Citi are wrong, but 90% of the people who work there need the job to get buy.
Now I do need to say that some of the problems are not in our control. There are things that limit us such as the system that Citi uses for CS. The system wont allow us to do some simple things. Or if you send in payments and its not showing, the rep doesnt know if it is sitting in the mail room, got lost in the mail, or if it is sitting on your desk.
Citi is a terrible company. But the consumer is not the only one who has to deal with the BS, the rep also has to as well. If you have any specific questions or comments you can email me (Mike544612@yahoo.com). If it is account related please know that I cant look up your info. Questions should be about a previous experience that wasnt explained well or you didnt get it. I can explain why or give you reasons as to why that event occured.

2) individiual agreements over phone are legally binding
3) individual agreements go over general agreements!

I cannot agree more with you. I have citibank student loans, and being a middle class american,(parents make too much, but not enough to pay for my school) I got nothing from the government. Alas, I have a pretty big loan balance with citi. I cannot even begin to describe the sheer incompetence that I have experienced with them. I called once to see how much Id pay after consolidation. They did a test consolidation on only ONE of my FOUR loans and gave me that figure. WRONG! Then, after I consolidated my loans, I was informed that I would have a free month. SO, based on my prior experience, I called again to find out if that was true. Well, the rep on the phone told me that all my loans had been paid off. Then I informed her that is not possible, unless some rich person decided to do a VERY random act of kindness. So, I told her to check again… OH I see now, your next payment is due on 8/18/07. Ok, so I get off the phone thinking ok, that is cool, but I am def. going to call back. So, on my next call, I am informed that it is due on 7/18. I was slightly annoyed on the phone, and was assured that it would be due in July. So TODAY (June 27) I receive an urgent notice from then indicating that my account is deliquent. Now I am pissed. I am in Germany now, but in 7 min, their office will open and they will receive a very kind call from me. If any of you happen to know what can be done about this (as they threaten that this will affect MY credit) please let me know. I do not know what I can do about this.

I sued Citibank and won!!! I’m still celebrating!! They closed my account down for reasons known only to them, then sent the check to the wrong address, they failed to give me a promotion bonus, then they didn’t give me all my Thankyou reward points….then I took them court.

Oh my God…Unbelievable. I thought I had problems with Citi Bank. My small problem with these fucs is my 2nd mortgage automatic payment coming from my Citi bank checking account. Apparently, when I applied for a 2nd mortgage through Citi (2005), they offered me a favorable flat interest rate if I opened a checking & savings and the payment would automaticly come out of the Citi checking account on the 1st of the month. I acccepted. Last October-2007 Citi made the mistake to take the auto-payment out of my savings which only had a balance of 200.00 (not enough to cover my payment of 346.67) which I was not aware until I received a letter from Cit Bank telling me that I was over due on my payment. I had called the customer service department marked on the letter and explained that I had more than enough $ to cover payment through my checking. Also, I had signed for a over draft protection just in case something would happen to me. The customer Service Rep said it is fixed and unfortunately the amount to be paid will only go into the principle. I was not happy, but I acknowledged/accepted. Again the same thing happened this past Dec-2007. This time I went to the branch where I opened the accounts. Apparently, the Citi Bank agent telephoned Hqs and assured me that it was taken care of and to wait for a letter telling me that auto-payment has continued, until then I was to make the payment on line or in any Citi Bank branch. I’ve made two (2) in-person payments in January-2008, the scond one was for Feb-2008 (I like to pay early), unfortunately, the Citi Bank teller notified me that the payment made for Feb might not be recorded. They told me to contact Citi Bank customer service to make sure Feb’s payment took. Anyway, I received a letter from Citi bank today (1/29) that was dated 1/11/08 telling me I owe double the amount due to non-payment for Dec & Jan and it will be coming out of my savings Feb 1st with Feb’s payment. With that in mind I will deposit the larger amount in the savings instead of the checking and unfortunately most of it is going to interest (my balance is $200.00 more) per the letter. I feel sorry for all the Citi Bank customers on this web-site that have it worse than I. Any Class Action Lawyers out there (you can keep most of it, I just want justice).

I paid off the full balance on my citi master card. Thinking that Inow don’t have to worry about anything I put the card away.
Three months later I checked my credit report to find that CITI fucs issues a statement that I had not paid the balance on my card. My credit rating actually dropped.
So, I call them and as it turns out I had a 3.45 charge from CITI for the insurance on my card. I was never even aware that I had insurance on my card.
so for 3.45 CITI bank charge my credit rating has been screwed and they closed my account to boot.
And don’t get me started on their BS customer service……. what a crapy company… never doing business with them again. Bunch of A@#&^)(s!!!!!!

You have heard nothing as prepostorious as this we have a citi flex line of credit and the bank even sent us out checks on 8/20/08 and then proceded to send us a letter stating that our account had been closed due to inactivity. Whoa!!! are they insane. Do they realize the repercussions of the overdraft fees involved in doing this? Apparently not. Why on earth would a company of their stature do this. Who knows but all of our accounts are being moved to US Bank after we try and clear up the mess they left behind.

This is a Question that goes to all who Love or Hate Citibank.
After a deliberate deterring of payments to grab Citibank Management’s attention to my unattended issue spanning over three years, and more than 40 phone calls to the CitiPhone Helpdesk, I got to speak to the Citibank Collections.
After speaking to an Collections Executive, who did not listen carefully and had irrelevant answers to never asked questions and does not understand or speak communicable English, I get to speak to his ‘Manager’. The ‘Manager’ seemingly understands and explains the reason for the goof-ups and apologizes profusely for the inconvenience that Citibank has caused me. He says he has resolved my issues, one being bills generated for a Citibank CashBack Credit Card, I payed up and closed in Oct 2004, and another being, a uninformed raise of interest from 2.95% p.m. (as promised at the time of issuing the card), to 3.15%p.m.
The most interesting part:
Three executives of/sent by the esteemed Citibank, who claimed a different amount each, at the time of collection, that varies by ‘a few digits’ as the ‘Manager’ quoted, were defended by him as Human Errors.
Now how many of you fellowmen feel, an esteemed CitiBank with as much as Online Banking should be pardoned for “Human Errors”?
Feel Free to Respond.

My Citibank credit card has the best rewards, and has always had decent customer service. I agree that they have some surprising policies, but at least they communicate. It might take two times, but eventually they get it right. Wells fargo takes it the next step and get rude and don’t help. Bank of America gives you a different story every time. Even the credit unions can’t keep their policies consistant. So Citibank is the best one for communication, and they do nice things! WF will increase your APR, no call or good reason, Citibank DECREASES you APR for just making your payments on time for a given period of time. Now that is a good bank in my books…reward you for doing good, where the other guys just punish you for little mistakes!
My biggest problem is they put a “hold” on my account since I was using it in Vegas, while my husband used his at our house in another state, and they froze spending until they reached one of us because it was “suspicious”. One cell phone call and my acocunt was open again, and while it interrupted my day for 10 minutes, I was happy to be so protected! (THEY called me! Communication is the key!!!!)
THey are all bad, but trust someone that does a lot of banking, Citibank is the better bank, right now anyway…Wells Fargo USED to be the best, but this last year, they have really gone to the dogs. I mean BAD! Like rob you blind bad! B of A is consistantly bad, but at least they are nice about it (just lost your deposits from time to time….)

ACCOUNTS CLOSING:
This is happening everywhere!
The banks are trying to secure their potential spending to handle the budget crisis.
I too have been victim to the cancellations…
If you want to keep your cards, use your cards to buy a few things, pay it off right away to avoid additional costs, and do this like once a month just to keep your accounts open…the closure can hurt your credit if you are high on other cards.
While I may agree with their reasons for once, many banks are very rude about it. My Macy’s card and I just had a very negative call about it!

Your not the only one who hates them. I work there and I hate them. They never give their people any slack their standers are so high no one can even get close to making productivity. I have been there for 5 years and they have screwed me out of a raise every year. Now because they got the buy out they just announced they are cutting out all raises and bonuses. Gee and they want us to work for them???? I am done even thought the economy is horrible I am looking for another job. Even if you do you job there its not good enough. They gave me 60 days to meet their standerds or they will make me write a letter stating since I cant imporve I will resign. Nice huh so now they can even screw me out of unemployment. Dont get any thing from them all they care about is their numbers and how much money they are makeing. They dont care about any thing else not even their customers. after they got the buy out money they raised peoples interest rates to 29% so they could get more money. And if the government hadnt stopped them they would have bought a jet. thats what you spend buy out money on huh. I am here to tell you this is the worst company I have ever worked for in my life. My day will be made when they get whats comming to them and fall flat on their face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Citibank SUCKS! I just closed my accounts there today, and moved my money to a better bank.
I look forward to the demise of Citibank. I really do. Thumbs down on Citibank.
In my case, I had set up some money transfers to pay some bills. I’ve done this in the past, with few problems. Last week, they decided to cancel all of my transfers, saying that the transfers were over my limits! But, that is not true. All of my transfers were within their stated limits.
After the third canceled transfer, I called to find out what the problem was. The call center guy “Roy” tried to tell me a hold was put on my account because I had withdrawn some cash. What? That didn’t make any sense. So, I asked him for some specific answers regarding this so-called limit that caused the cancellation of my transfers. He said he didn’t know, and had to transfer me to someone else.
Someone else turned out to be an Indian call center employee named “Elizabeth” who had trouble speaking English, and didn’t have a clue about my question. She only wanted to walk me the process to set up a transfer. Duh! Sorry, I know how to do that.
This is VERY POOR SERVICE. Nothing I can do or say will change Citibank; I can only vote with my feet. So, good bye Citibank. Good riddance!

Citibank (student loan services) is criminal. Try to send a payment with instructions, and they throw away the instructions. Call and ask why, and they tell you that the address you sent it to is automated, and so can’t process anything in writing (other than the checks, which are written – sound puzzling?).
When this happened to me, it was after I called and asked where I could send payments with instructions. They gave me the automated address, and took a year’s worth of payments before I realized that they weren’t being distributed properly.

Citi is the worest bussiness on the planet. If only the president of the united states had a citi card. I wish the goverment was smart enough to see the truth behind this terrible company. The only way they make money is by killing people with 20% intrest rates. They closed my account after I paid my balance in full and will not open it back up. I have a 730 credit score and have never missed one payment in 37 years. And you cant give me credit then who the hell are you lending the money to… They have lied to the american public and we keep baling them out.. No we dont need more money.. O yea.. Right!! I have a personal account and a business account at Citibank. I transferred money from the personal account to the business account and then back again. I did this for tax purposes so that different transactions were easily documented.
Citibank put a hold on one of the transfers, even though the funds were in the account, and both accounts were at that branch. Further, I had discussed what I was doing with two different people so that they understood the transaction and the importance of it. I was assured that the transaction was properly handled and everything was fine.
Because they put a hold on one of the transfers, payroll tax withdrawals made from the corporation account BOUNCED! This is a huge deal. The end result is that my corporation net income is not what it should be, and now I owe $3,300 that would not otherwise be due.
They have disavowed all responsibility. I wish the govt would quite pumping money into them and let the whole institution fail. They’ve earned it.

as a Citigroup N.A. employee…trust me….you don’t know the half of it. from our standpoint, Citi is run heavily on only bureaucratic ideal. the concern for clients has drifted to the wayside. i truly apologize if i spoke with any one of you on any subject and was unable to help you. generally speaking, if we say we can’t help you…it’s actually quite likely we’re limited by what the business will allow…it’s not that we’re less intelligent (ALTHOUGH…there are always a few that slip through). Aside from having to play second fiddle to a new office for our CEO…we’re a frustrated group of employees. we’re unable to speak up against the company for fear of being fired…
just a word to the wise….be at least half way decent when you speak to the reps on the phone…we can understand that you’re pissed off about the way your account was handled. we know that your interest rate is outrageous. we are all well aware that our nickel and dime practices are ridiculous…GUESS WHAT…it’s not our fault. we handle your accounts though…and we don’t have to reverse fees for you (we can by the way…reverse several thousand dollars in fees on any account if you whine enough)…but why start off our delightful conversation with “THIS IS THE SEVENTH GODDAMN TIME I’M CALLING AND YOU WILL REVERSE THIS FEE blahblahblahblah.” cause i won’t do anything for you at that point.
you just made me sad…
haha…just thought i’d let you know how the reps on the other side of the phone feel.

Citibank, ya gotta be kidding. I have an existing mortgage account with them and I’m one o fthe nuts who not only pays on time but pays ahead (I’m sales and commision so I stay ahead). Anyway, I thought what the hey, why not take advatage of the lower rates and lower my monthly payments … I thought going to Citi would be easier, they allready have all my info, I’m an existing customer so the approval should be quick and easy … what a laugh. I send them tons of documentation, they say I’m approved, then a couple of weeks latter get another email requesting 20 more things. They never call, always email and never timely. I’ve left messages and email and get no response (except from the poor guy who took the initial app. of course he turned it over to internal Citi folks). Basically the way I see it they dont wont to refinance because they would loose money on my existing loan. Well guess what Citi, I’m refinancing with someone else, so how much are you goping to oose over the long run now? Just in cast there are those out there that think , “we’ll he just doesnt qualify in his current situation ..” According to Citi my house appraised at $370,000, my current motgage balance is under $200,000 and I’m not taking money out. Current income is $175,000 annual .. so what id Citi’s excuse now ……

WOW, I’m stunned at how this company a looser!!!!
I’ve had credit card with them forever and NEVER been late and I have good credit. Today they send me a notice that they are canceling my credit card with Shell because they feel that I don’t make enough money to support a $400 credit line, WHAT?
I make over 50K a year! I called the support line and the woman was like I’m really sorry but this is a business decision.
This is the company who took HOW MUCH OF OUR MONEY FROM US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with a bail out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCUM AND THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have too many things to say about Citibank, but I don’t feel that this is enough. I have had it with their tricks and bad customer service. What can we do to change this, to get back what we’re owed? I feel like we’ve been wronged but have nothing to do about it!!

i opened a “free checking” account with citibank november 2007, got he checks and atm card, never got a statement. A few weeks ago I wanted to start using the account, i was told they closed it a few eeks ago. seems they did charge me a service fee of $9.50 a month, as well as a $34 overdraft fee, once all my $500 was gone they closed the account. I never received the first statement. after many calls and even citibank employee DA27731 telling me on July 26 2009 that the service charges (hence the overdraft fees) were in error, they refused to correct th error. I closed my two citibank credit cards today, what a dishonest company, i will never use these clowns again.

Citibank sent me a note saying they were changing my interst rate to 29.99%!!!! I have NEVER been late on any credit card payments to any company ever!!! When you sign up for a credit card you know your rates will go up if you default and if you don’t default your rates shouldn’t skyrocket for no reason. Its oportunistic and unfair to do this without cause. I would never agree to/sign up for that interest rate no matter what. Its a bait and switch if you ask me. I opted out so I can pay my balance at 2.99% which was the original agreement. These guys are nuts.
